First Bear!

Well after coming to the conclusion that my first attempt at shooting a bear was a swing and a miss; we went for round two!

We spotted him and his buddy from a mile away, then moved into about 275'ish and a very steep angel. The steepest shot I've ever taken. Not wanting the bear to go anywhere but down the hill towards us I touched off a shot from my grandpa's old German 270 Weatherby and punched through his shoulders. First time taking that old rifle out and to be able take a bear was special!

Yes, I took my orange off for the last few pictures. But had it on during the hunt.

Five foot eight! Solid Montana bear! Seems a lot of bears taken here are the size of black labs or very young. Glad I know where some big ones are!
