Headed to Colorado for a 5 day drop camp rifle hunt. What necessities do ya'll carry in your first aid kit? I have one put together but I might have left something out.

three 2x3 bandages, a 1" band-aid per day, a couple straws of Neosporin, 2ft of athletic tape, 2 vicoden, 2 Tylenol ER's & 1 30mg Zinc per day, and a pint of brandy is all I carry.
Cordage for tourniquet and/or leg splint already in pack.

HnF's list above is pretty good but I'll add that I always have a TQ with me. Just weighed my CAT TQ at 2.35 oz. And for me, that's totally worth it. When you need a TQ, you REALLY need it now, and that's not the time to try to find the right materials to put one together. Also, cordage of any kind makes poor TQs due to how thin it is. Its inefficient at closing off blood flow and you run the risk of damaging tissue. Even if you don't carry an actual TQ, there are much better options that you can find in your pack to make one. Just my .02.

Never saw a pint of brandy in a first aid kit before, but why not. More uses than just some alcohol. :)

In all honesty, emergency self help boils down to being 90% mental.
Break a bone, roll an ankle, trip & jab a stick in your side, all are very painful.
And eliminating pain and improving mental toughness is most of the battle.
This is where the vicoden & brandy come in, eliminate pain, and find mental strength in a bottle to self extract.

I need to add one of those clotting pads. I hear tampons work well for puncture wounds (like falling on a downfall limb) and make good fire tinder as well. Might be worth the weight to add one of those.

Hey thanks for the thoughts on NOT using cordage for a TQ.
Sounds like I'd be better off using a section of my shirt or gun sling. I hate packing lots of crap, so if items I already have can pull double duty in the med kit, awesome.

My first aid kit really doesn't change from season to season, but one thing I always carried with me for 3rd rifle was a road flare to start an emergency fire (or just a regular fire to warm up). Seems like 3rd rifle was always bitter cold when I hunted it, with lots of snow. Was nice to stop mid-morning and start a fire to warm up a bit. I also carry a Quickclot pack in my FA kit. Also some sunscreen, that sun can be brutal especially glaring off the snow all day. And because of that, sunglasses.
