I found the hard way the 22 CM is a slightly different case then a 22-250. Case head above the extractor groove on 22CM is .4703, on the 22-250 its. 467.So before knowing this I fired some 22-250 in my 22 CR chamber. On the fireformed brass there is a step down on the base just above the extractor groove. The ammo shot good. So, I loaded up new loads in the now 22 CM case, they chamber rough but extracted like butter. But they shot good. My question is am I risking a case head separation? Did I ruin some lupua and Norma brass?

I would guess, given your results, that yes, you will get early case head separation on your fire formed cases. The real question is why? Creedmoor brass is readily available, while 22-250 brass is somewhat harder to source. . . .also, not sure why you would think that the 22-250 and the 22 creed were the same case?

What’s the web look like? Post a photo. And same questions as above, confused on why you would ever do this.

Early on, before good brass was available, there were guys using Lapua 22-250 brass in the 22 Creed. The necks typically end up a little short.

At this point though, I wouldn’t mess with this route - just get Peterson or Alpha brass.

I did this because I had some Lupua and Norma brass in 22-250. I thought I was fireforming superior brass.I should've looked at case specs before doing this. 30 Norma and 36 Lupua brass ruined. Life goes on.
