I've always disliked mummy style bags in the past. I have broad shoulders and I like to have leg room when I sleep and I toss and turn a lot. Had a marmot plasma 30 and I couldn't stand sleeping in it for comfort(felt like I couldnt move) or warmth.

This year I purchased a feathered friends penguin 30 and WOW am I a happy camper. Incredible loft compared to the plasma 30, better zipper and much more comfortable, with enough room for me to wiggle around a little, I slept like a baby. I slept comfortably in temps down into the mid/upper 30s and never felt uncomfortable. The penguin 30 is a little heavier than most of those mummy bags but I'll tell you what, it is was a weight penalty I would gladly make again. Two thumbs up for Feathered Friends!

+1 for FF - I run the Puffin Nano 20, love the semi rectangular cut, fill and loft is freaking awesome!

+1 here too...love my penguin....thinking about ordering one of there 0 or -10 degree bags...not to jump the thread but anyone have experience with their winter bags?

I'm torn between their winter 0* bag or a WM Antelope GWS.... Same weight but price difference. It's tough to shell out that kind of $$$ for a bag in the first place! Especially when I have discounts with BA and Marmot.

FF or WM can do custom bags. Call each describe what you want and they can help you out. For me, would be take the Puffin Nano and make it a zero or minus 5 bag. They may need to give that bag a few inches of width to allow for the extra down filling. Also, most if not all your insulation is top side, you are crushing the down below you so its not doing as much. Im tempted to move some down to the top and sew it shut, that way down cant move to back side.
