Looking to take 16 year old on trip, was planning to go to NM for Auodad but with the new NM "quarantine" rules not looking good. Any other ideas have about 2000 to spend and it would be the Thursday before Thanksgiving through Thanksgiving. He is a pretty seasoned hunter and fisherman with 1 west hunt and multiple southeast hunts and tons of fishing experience. Flying is an option if needed. Any idea? Thank you for your feedback.

Coues may not exactly fit your timeline, but an option to keep in mind.

Lots of options in TX (exotics).

Do you predator hunt at all? Take a predator trip...move around stay where you end up at night with no real plans. You could stretch $2000 a long ways and maybe get a bunch of shooting in and sell the pelts and get a bit of a return.

I've been checking on some sandhill crane hunts around Lubbock, TX. Crooked Wing Outfitters has some openings around that time. I was looking for something in January and it looks like they're booked up then, but have some opening toward the end of November.

If your looking for a fun, easy trip, pigs and javelina in Texas. Your dates may be hard to find available as deer season is on, and many places won’t let you hunt those until after season. Feb. or March. But it’s relaxing and really fun !

I just spent 9 days in MT, ID, WY and SD with both of my boys, same age. Shot one grouse. But the adventure was awesome. Your boy is right, it won't matter. Get away, turn off the news and laugh. And do a better job than I did about taking pictures! Enjoy it.
