Came across this today and it was fascinating to me. I would’ve thought ranchers in this situation would have more ways to economically benefit from elk. What does it take for them to be able to generate income from a tag? Maybe MT should look at the CO RFW tag system?

I live, work, and recreate in Paradise Valley. The article seems like a balanced summary of the guys book. I did find it interesting that the rancher east of Emigrant didnt see any elk until the reintroduction of wolves.
Development is accelerating in the valley. I have heard Sage Lodge has attracted wealthy guests that then decide to buy a home in the valley. Not sure if thats accurate.
There has been a noticable shift in the kind of people. I used to spend the afternoon on the river with my kids and maybe have a few tourists come to the beach, maybe another local family. Now there will be 15 mid twenties hipsters sun bathing and partying. I am not sayi g that is a bad thing, just different than 10 years ago.
