Anybody have recommendations on a place to stay in NW Arkansas for a family summer trip? Maybe somewhere I could sneak off for some trout fishing?

Be aware that that area is very, very popular with bikers. Both mountain, and motorcycle all summer long.

Spider Creek Resort used to be a nice place that my kids enjoyed, and right down from the dam about a mile and a half, on the White River.

It's been years since we've stayed there though

Are you looking for specific lodging or do you want to know which town to spend the night in?

If you want to be close to trout fishing in NWA, that means Beaver tail water. Bentonville isn’t too terribly far from there but Fayetteville probably is if you’re trying to sneak off, which is a shame because Fayetteville is more scenic. Eureka Springs is a really cool little resort town but depending on your kids’ ages it might not have enough to do for more than a day trip. Bentonville has a ton of kid-friendly stuff like the Amazeum and Coler Park.

Sounds like bentonville or eureka springs might be the ticket. Was kind of hoping for a little more secluded place to crash rather than the resort type thing. I’ll have to check out Airbnb but this at least gets me in the right direction.

Eureka Springs isn’t too much of a “resort town”, I was overstating it a bit. It used to be a resort town in the late 1800s-early 1900s. Now it’s mainly a quirky small town. There’s plenty of more secluded spots though if that’s what you want. How far are you willing to be out of a town and how far are you willing to drive to fish?

And I know trout get all the love but don’t overlook a smallmouth excursion on the Kings River

If you want a little more town but close to good fishing, Mountain Home is a nice community and great fishing at Cotter or Norfork, both close by. It's more north central AR though.

Branson is a zoo in the summertime. Try to fish the White River or some of it's tributaries. Last time we were there we stayed at a place on Table Rock. Sorry, but I can't remember the name.

There are some pretty cool AirBnB properties in Rogers that sit on the lake, lots of them will back up to the lake and kids can go down and play in the water, although the lake is pretty high right now. Plenty of options for trout fishing around here, but it can be trickier without a boat depending on the generation schedule.

Where you coming from btw?

I live in NW Arkansas. Can’t say I know hot spots, but hit me up if you’d live. I’m happy to share what I know

Mountain Home Arkansas is a great place to stay. My family loves to trout fish. We are actually headed to Fall Creek & will be trout fishing Taneycomo this weekend.

Bentonville is pretty urban if you are looking to get away. Eureka is fun too. We spent an anniversary weekend there. Im a mountain biker so my slant seems to be toward that. Lot's of airbnb type stuff in Bville. I only live a couple of hours away so i don't know a lot of places to stay, but the area is busy and lots to do. If you do get the urge to ride, you can rent bikes as well for something to do. Even if you don't mountain bike, the razorback greenway is a fun and scenic ride.

The Buffalo River area is pretty and offers some nice recreational activities but it may be a bit too far east for you.

I'm in NWA too. Been here my entire life. Any specific questions, feel free to shoot me a message. Depending on what exactly you're looking for, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

I'm not sure how long of a family trip you're planning, but if it's full week I'd recommend bouncing around a little. I don't think there's really enough to do in any one place for a full week, at least there's not for my family. Something like 2 nights in Fayetteville for the girls, then a couple nights in Jasper to hike and float the Buffalo (check water levels in the summer), then a couple nights in Cotter or Norfork to fish the White would make a fun trip. You wouldn't run out of things to do and you'd see some of the best the state has to offer.
