Fire destroys Fairbanks Fur Tannery, historic hangar

The Fairbanks Fur Tannery and the historic hangar it occupied burned to the ground Friday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation but no foul play is suspected,

This really sucks!! I feel terrible for all involved!! I had first hand experience with the same thing a couple months ago. Came home from an Alaskan moose hunt. Was fortunate to bring home the bull of my dreams. Took it to a local guy with beatles to get a euro done.6 days later I get a message from him saying I don't even know how to tell you this but yesterday my shop burned to the ground. I feel nothing is salvageable and feel terrible I know your moose was a once in a lifetime. It is a shitty situation for everyone involved.

I had a really nice caribou in his freezer waiting for the velvet to be preserved. I see the main structure is gone. Sad all around, and I'm wondering if his freezer was in a secondary building. Anyone know?

I had a friend drive down today to check it out and it's a total loss. My caribou was there to get the velvet tanned. Here is a photo from when I dropped it off. Gut wrenching.
