I bought an expander mandrel die from Erik Cortina for my 6.5 Creed. Bought a .262 mandrel.

What is the right way to use this in the brass process? Do I run my brass through the mandrel die then full length size them with the right neck bushing? I watched his video but I must have missed this.

Thanks

Depending on how big your case base is, this can be caused by a big chamber and loose dies, squeezing all the lower half the case in with the Cortina die, can flow brass upward and it can move your shoulder, I've saw it with other "small base" dies. Just something to watch out for.

Don’t forget to take your expander button out of the FL die.

Maybe that's what I did wrong. Somehow when I went to seat the 6.5 eldms they were dropping into the case

Bought a Redding bushing die, pulled the .288 pushing from the PRC die and loaded into the Creed. Pulled the rod out. Resized the cases and seated the bullets. I think I'm good to go now.

Thanks

Sounds like you got it figured out.

The only thing I can figure for the bullets dropping into the case was that the original bushing was way oversized and not pushing the neck in when you sized the cases. The .288 bushing sounds about right but the mandrel is what is ultimately controlling the inside neck diameter. Just depends on how much you want to work the brass (as long as the neck bushing isn't too big and not getting the ID to <0.262).
