I have a K-2 frame and pack, just wanting to know if their much difference in the k-2 verus k-3

K3: The frame has two lengths, can extend an inch, thicker belt padding. The bags vary some as well. The bags attach/detach easier when loading meat. The horseshoe zipper is more convenient than the single side zip, IMO.

I was going to buy the K3 but, with the K3 belt conversion on my K2, I don't find it lacking in any way vs the K3. I do have a K3 1800 bag which is ok. I prefer the K2 2000 I had over the 1800.

I have a K2 with the K3 belt. The K3 belt is a significant improvement and worth upgrading that piece.

If you use your meat shelf all the time like for hauling stands in and out, it might be worth upgrading the whole pack, but if not, I’d just get the new belt.

I have the K2 2000. I upgraded to the K3 belt and added a lid and turned this into a great day pack where I shed jackets and need to stuff them somewhere. Plus I always have a rain jacket in my pack. I am not sure I like the K3 belt better yet. I am having hip pains not experienced before since switching. I've been playing with the length of velcro adjustments to see if I can eliminate the pain.

I found that the K3 belt doesn't need to be cinched down as tight as the 2. I noticed a numb hip after switching until I figured it out.

Yep I have been doing that and trying to ride it higher, same as I have to do with my Kifarus. The issue when I leave it a bit loose, is the tensions I have to put on my shoulder straps. I have run those up and down the entire ladder system inside trying to get this to work.
