Yes, it works great! But, you'll have to ditch almost all of the buckles it comes with and at least get the compression strap kit from Kifaru. The only buckle that comes with it that will work is the bottom set of buckles that are simple ladder locks with a split bar so you can slip it onto a common loop. However, the split in the bar is not centered. It's way off to the side and seems like it would either easily allow the common loop to slip around it or break off, but it may be ok. So, I have a set of the K-clip conversion kit and use those instead, along with the compression kit. You'll need a set of 3/4" SR buckles for the top if you want to attach the top to the top of the frame or set of g-hooks might work for this as well also, but Kifaru doesn't have those any more. You'll have to get them from MilSpecMonkey or another buckle outlet.
Without the pals, you won't be able to move the compression straps inboard so that you can completely compress an empty or small load. I've got a set of the plain K-clips that I installed on the attachment tabs on the side of the frame. I run the K-clip side of the compression straps attached to the beavertail then run the strap through the slot on the K-clip on the frame and then re-attach the SR buckle and connect to the other side in the middle of the beavertail. This allows me to compress an empty or small load without the pals.
So far I'm pretty happy with this setup.
