So I just offloaded my Kuiu Icon and got the funds together to get a new pack. I have decided to get the Exo 3500. My dilemma is do I order it now or are there some new updated bags coming soon? Anyone have an idea when the new stuff will be released?

I only know because I read it on here. There’s a couple threads. Believe june shipping is what was stated. If you’ve got a long torso you may want to wait.

I don't think much is changing this year. I thought I heard that they were just introducing the new pack sizes. I did the exact same thing as you earlier this year. Got rid of my Kuiu pack and picked up last years version Exo 3500 with the newer hip belt. Frame is the same and I don't know what they could really do to the bags to make them better. You will not be disappointed if you get the current version.

I have heard June as well. I took a few pics from Land of the Free 2 when they were testing out the new Exo Packs. I really like the look of the 3000 pack with the same top as the older 2000 bag. Also it looks on the back there is a stretchy pocket that you can get to from the top (see brown panel).

How about just giving them a call and ask? They are good guys over there and they'll give you a straight answer.

I second on calling them. Or email them. They have always got back to me quickly. I'm sure they will help.

I called them before ordering a pack for my son. I am waiting for June.

If you do not need a pack before June, I would wait. Every iteration of Exo packs has been an improvement, and I cannot imagine the new generation being any different.

That being said, I have a current production pack and absolutely love it so if you can't or don't want to wait, I would bet you would be happy.

I contacted Exo directly. They were very upfront and informative. This just makes my descision to run one of their packs that much easier. Looking forward to putting an order in around June 👍

I would put my order in as soon as they start taking them. They should start shipping in June, which means they'll start shipping pre-ordered packs first. Usually if you miss the first batch you have to wait a while before they're back in stock. That puts you up against season deadlines.

Did they actually give you some details on what was coming? Last time I tried, they did not tell me anything other than "If you can, you should wait." but that was back in Jan/Feb time frame. Maybe I should call again :)

Am I the only one that misses the top access stretchy panel on the Exo packs? I had a second generation pack that had the top access stretchy panel and my newer packs have the side zipper access and I don't like it as much. The zippers don't let twigs and junk fall in like a top access but I typically keep my puffy in that pocket and I hate watching the zipper so I don't damage my puffy. Maybe I just need to pack differently...

You cant go wrong with an EXO. I purchased the current model last summer and immediately fell in love with it in comparison to the KUIU Icon Pro 3200. Regardless if you order now or wait until the new products start shipping, you will be happy with the product in the end.

I just unclip the top pouch and unbuckle and open the roll top not even using the zipper.

That doesn't get you into the stretch pocket. That gets you into the main bag. Two different things. The first gen packs had top access to the stretch pocket. Newer ones are zipped. I like the open top design as well.

That's what I mean. I use the outside zipper pocket for several small items like flashlight, tool/ repair kit. and other small items. My jacket goes in the top of the main bag or tucked under the top pack.

The open top stretch pocket is way more convenient for grabbing a jacket without undoing straps or zippers

I'm for easy. You're right, that zipper would be sketchy around a nylon puffy. Might have snow storm of feathers. Love the pack though.

Yes, adding the zipper to the stretch pocket was the only change I didn't care for. I can see why they did it but I don't like it. As mentioned, I could store my puffy in the main compartment and it wouldn't be as big of an issue but I got used to storing it in that stretch pocket in the first model and really like having it so readily accessable so I haven't switched.
