We’d usually see a half rack most years, hunting in Illinois, just never up close.
I always thought that there would be some kind of pedicle…interesting that there is nothing.

I seen one last year on my place in MO. Unfortunately, the one side he had was not legal to shoot him. Just a large forkie on the right and just hair on the left.

I shot a spike elk a few years back that had broken his pedicle off of his skull and his horn was flopping around on top of his head, but the skull was solid underneath, gotta wonder if this buck had a 2nd pedicle at some point that broke off

Probably 10 years ago there was a set of twin bucks on a neighboring property like that. One had a right antler and the other had a left. We saw them as spikes, forky, and three points. All in the same area and if you found their sheds you’d probably think you found a matching set they were so similar.

Used to see them all the time in one area, and several would have been 130"-150" if they would've had both sides. Seems those genetics have mostly been wiped out but still a few oddities around. Probably the closest I'll come to seeing a unicorn.1000017667.jpg

There's no sign of a pedicle.
