In case you havent seen it here is a "letter to the editor" published in the local newspaper 4-5 days before the event:

So it was actually all preplanned as an excuse for the EPA to do exactly what I said they would do. Bankruptcy of the USA is about the only thing that can save us from the rapacious beast that is the federal government.

Humanity is sure fecking up the earth right?! (I know it was the EPA this time - but you have to wonder how many more ticking time bombs there are out there, and home many we are creating now...

Yep. Disaster all the way around. We can't be making more of this toxic crap for people to inevitably spill later on - whether a private company or a gov't clean-up effort. Regardless, that poor watershed, what a shame.

Yeah but how is it that a private citizen (geologist) can forecast something the EPA was unable to forecast with their billions in funding? Kind of like the 2008 financial crisis that "nobody" saw coming except private companies and economists. Kind of like Katrina when FEMA kept private groups and individuals from assisting in the rescue and immediate clean up.
