Can anyone tell me with certainty the rules on whether you can transport a skull from Wyoming to Colorado I have a friend with a bull in the back country who is deciding what his next move is

I can’t seem to find it anywhere in the CO regs

Thank you in advance

I skinned mine out last year then did the best I could to clean it up at the car wash. Checked with a warden and he said I was good to go. He thanked me for taking the time to do it right.

CWD lives in the brain and spinal fluid that’s their whole deal with moving them across state lines, power wash it all out and get it checked with the warden then jam home!

I would be a little careful...First you would have to check with a warden in the state you are bringing it to. Unless there are rules in WY about transporting out of that unit.

I shot a deer in ND and cleaned it as others described. However, I got pulled over for a traffic violation about 10 miles from my house (I may have a heavy foot at times). Cop saw the head in the back of my truck and called MNDNR. MNDNR officer looked at it and actually confiscated it. As it technically didn't fit #4 on the list as it was a complete skull. And when I expalined how I power washed it there is no way there isn't brain matter somewhere inside the head. I was not too happy about that but he told me to give him a week or so to decide if he would write a ticket and confiscate or just confiscate.

Minnesota's regs
  1. Quarters or other portions of meat with no part of the spinal column or head attached
  2. Meat that is boned out or that is cut and wrapped (either commercially or privately)
  3. Hides and teeth
  4. Antlers or clean (no brain tissue attached) skull plates with antlers attached
  5. Finished taxidermy mounts
Called him back about 1.5 weeks later and he said he could meet me at the DNR headquarters he was stationed out of in about an hour if I wanted the head back. Turned out be be a really good guy and actually felt bad as I had made on honest attempt to clean it up.
