I have a great deal of experience with ASAT and am thinking of making the switch to SITKA. That would mean using the ELEVATED II for the whitetail stuff. What do you guys think of this pattern in itself and compared to others.

I have had both, and honestly I stick with asat and subalpine. I had a ton of pieces of elevated and honestly hated the pattern. Looked awful hunting off the ground, and I never hunted high enough for the pattern to do what it’s suppose to with it’s blueish tint. I had people and deer pick me out easily which has never happened to me before no matter what pattern I’ve worn. I mix both sitka and first lite pieces to get my favorite gear and patterns. If that pattern would change, sitka would be hard to beat period.

This has always been in the back of my mind with elevated pattern. I wear first lite but honestly I feel Sitka is much better for stand hunting and it's not close. The way the clothes are designed from pocket layouts to magnet closures for lapels to keep them down and safety harness pass through so clothes can be worn over the harness, are all small things that are so nice. I love the fusion pattern from.first lite but the lack of windproofing is killing me. Catalyst soft shell and corrugate jackets don't have harness pass through. I hate how the sanctuary is laid out design wise. They are like high pants not bibs. Pockets suck. Solitude is great for pocket layout but wind cuts through like you're not even wearing it.

ASAT leafy jacket over what ever the weather dictates has worked the best for me whether it's on the ground or in a tree. Elk, deer, turkeys, hogs.

I agree with the first lite non wind proofing. I was so excited to buy the Catalyst and took it out for the first time and the wind burned through it, completely useless. I stick to the Sanctuary jacket. Seems to be the best they have for warmth and somewhat wind proofing. Best option I can find so far would be to use a Windproof layer underneath. Something like the sitka Jetstream vest or my other thought was to get a custom vest made from Gray Wolf woolens.

Camp patterns make little difference in hunting. Noise, scent control, movement, and outlines make more difference than Camo pattern. Buy whatever cano pattern you want. My brother hunts in tree stands using duck hunting reed camo patterns, deer never seem to care. This pattern discussion is so far down the totem pole, get what clothing works best for you and your budget, don’t buy into the camo pattern hype.

I would just look at the western gear from Sitka and find the roughly akin piece in subalpine or ground forest. If you just beef up your base layers or insulation layer, the slightly less warm western gear works identical. I think the big brands really like to use Whitetail, Western and Waterfowl to make it seem like you need 3 sets, so they offer 3 similar pieces with slight differences to each.

Prime example here would be the stratus and the jetstream. Yes, the stratus is slightly warmer, but if you put better insulator underneath, it's not even noticeable.

I've hunted in sub zero temps with the Jetstream as my outer and as long as it cuts the wind, I can figure out the insulation needed.

Some may say it's nuanced to the specific type of hunting, but I still feel like it's a good piece marketing.

What's prompting you to make the switch out of curiosity?

I didn’t like the clothing itself from firstlite. But I love the ASAT pattern. The Sitka clothing is layed our much better and more durable. Just really am not liking the elevated II pattern. Probably mental after wearing ASAT formal long.

I really don't like elevated II for ground use or turkeys, which I do a fair bit, hence my reply above.

The elevated II pattern isn't getting people picked off more than any other pattern. It's a helluva pattern and I've used it since it came out. In snow it's deadly on the ground as well as the trees. Have you looked at it in person or just pictures? Movement and wind direction will give you up quicker than any camo pattern on the market. The Sitka system blows all the others away for whitetail setups. First Lite is trying, but they've got a long way to go to catch up.

This. I LOVE first lite as far as fit and looks. Layouts are hit and miss. Solitude is great, sanctuary sucks layout wise. But lack of windproofing across the whitetail line baffles me

I wish they would put the stratus and fanatic in ground forest or subalpine as well. Like I said, I don't like the elevated II because I don't like it for ground hunting, turkeys or waterfowl. For that reason I use a jetstream up until it gets cold enough, then switch to sanctuary. I'd gladly fork over the money if I could get the stratus or fanatic in either of those color schemes.

My one issue with the stratus/fanatic was that the regular version is super short on your torso. If you have a normal or long torso, get the tall version. Sometimes not an issue due to bibs, but just bothered me where it sat.

I know it doesn't have a dedicated wind layer, but I have never had a problem staying warm in sanctuary in below zero temps in heavy wind (northern MN).

I think there is to big of a gap between solitude and sanctuary without solitude having a wind layer.

I'll keep in mind the sizing but I love bibs for hunting. Sanctuary without a front pouch and the seem sit lower than most bibs. Leg pockets are on the side where solitude are in front of legs so can be accessed easily

I haven't worn the solitude so I can't comment. The bibs do sit differently. At first I thought it was weird but got used to it, and now I don't notice.
