Has anyone else had issues with the tips on eldm's being exceptionally fragile?

I bought 500. Just in the first 3 boxes I've had nearly ten broken in the box.

And just through fairly normal handling I'm breaking tips. I got some new aics mags and cycled 2-4 mags worth of ammo... between cycling and falling 2 ft onto a rubber padded floor I broke 2 tips. And today on a prs stage I timed out with one remaining. Pulled it out of the chamber and the tip was broken 🤔....when I pulled a bullet with a hammer style puller while loading I broke a tip. I dropped one 3 ft onto the same rubber mat and the tip broke. I'm probably at nearly 15-20 broken tips through ~275 loads.

147 eldms.

Did I just get a janky batch of seconds? Or am I just a bull in a China shop?

berger elite hunters are looking better and better...

I’d reach out to Hornady and see what they say… I haven’t had issues with components, but have had a few factory 108s break off in my 6 ARC AR. I had chalked it up to rough feeding in an AR compared to bolt though, but could be wrong. Not enough for me to give up on them though.

I shoot factory Hornady and unloaded a round after a hunt this year and it came out without a tip. Pulled the bolt and looked down the barrel and the tip was about halfway down.

Rob's Reloading on youtube had several eldm tips come off after he loaded the projectiles and was chambering them in the gun. He found many of them broken off in the box after when he went back and looked, the box was in great shape so it didn't seem to be a handling issue. On a related note, I had 3 boxes of 6.5 120cx projectiles that had a couple 50gn .223 CXs in each box right in the same timeframe. Different problem obviously, but it really made me wonder about current QC over at Hornady.

I have had the issue with 88s but no others so far, all of the damage came in the package I didn’t have any break from handling.

It's definitely concerning. If it's breaking on the feed ramp and landing in the barrel, not sure if that would cause a substantial enough barrel obstruction to cause a rupture. But it definitely isn't helping accuracy.
