Hi guys, I have most of my stuff together for this season. I am still trying to figure out the most efficient way to have a basecamp and bivy setup. I'm in rainy western wa so I think I need rain cover for the bivy. How do you guys go about this with an efficient mix of not duplicating everything but not taking down basecamp every day either?

Basecamp I run a Tut and stove. Spike / Bivy set up is a Borah Gear 8x10 flat tarp and SnowySide Bivy. 20* Slick Bag in camp and a Woobie in the pack for Spike / Bivy needs. All the items work together or separately if needed.

Agreed. Just add a flat tarp, with a few extra stakes and some parachord.

The good news is sept is our dry season. Dew is our biggest issue with the warm days and cold nights. Resist the temptation to sleep under the stars without the bivy :).

Thanks guys. I have a tipi and a tarp. But I am a little confused on what to do because the tipi I just got TiGoat Vertex 5 is a bit smaller than I expected and the tarp I have is actually heavier than the tipi lol. So I was going to base out of the tipi but now maybe it should be my bivy setup.

I was thinking to just keep everything (pad, quilts) in bivy and just cram them into the pack vs packing each individually. Maybe I dont need the bivy at all if I plan on using the tipi. What do you guys do?

PS Broodbuster I'm really close to you in Duvall.

For 8 oz more you could add a 112×60 tarp and not have to break down your vertex, leave extra food and non necessities and toss your sleep system in your pack in the morning and to killing critters. The advantage to me is time in the mornings as you can have everything packed and ready, except your bag pad and bivy, then you don't spend extra time breaking down camp.
