I have an eberlestock x2 and I really like the pack. I've carried out two mule deer quarters 4 miles and it was brutal but that's because I'm not in the best of shape. Anyways, I'm training with a 35# dumbell in the pack and it feels like a lot of weight on my shoulders. Am I fitting the pack wrong? I put the pack on and cinch the waste then buckle the chest , and then cinch down the should straps. Something Im missing with load lifters or such?

Thanks!

I love the X2 pack, but with a load, there will always be a shoulder issue as there is really are no load lifters on this pack. You will have to get an EXO, Kifaru or Stone Glacier type of pack with a better waist belt and shoulder lift. I really wish Glenn Eberlee would redesign the X2 suspension as otherwise it is kickass pack.

Pack is too short for most people. i have one and have the exact same problem. I no longer use it for elk hunting. Whitetail only into and out of a treestand. If the pack was about 6" taller I think it would be good. I also had a problem getting the waist belt tight. Load lifters on that pack are essentially for decoration only.

I love my X2 as my Elk daypack. The design and pocket layout is one of the best. But you're right, with weight it sucks. I have had 80+lbs of boned out meat and gear in mine on two occasions for 4+ hours and there was nothin fun about it. I will keep this pack for my daypack but i purchased an EXO this year!

Or atleast better shoulder straps!!!

Love my x2 but EXO kills it on any weight vs comfort. Even empty the EXO is more comfortable.

I first got the x2 as a day hunt from the truck pack then bought extra straps to lengthen compression straps to carry my climbing stand for WT's. Worked great for a couple years. Last year I bought the EXO to replace a worn out MH pack I used for longer trips.

Now I pretty much use my EXO for everything, including climbing stand and sack concrete. Last year I even just ran the EXO with beaver tail and just a home made duffle. . It's a very comfortable frame.

Eberle stocks are well known for their lack of load lifters. I like my team elk pack...till I put a quarter on it. It gets the job done but it's not pleasant.

On the other hand I use a kifaru nomad on a bikini frame. I train with this pack with a 40lbs bag of dog food. It carries maybe 5% of the weight on my shoulders. The weight is carried by your hips but you don't feel it. It really carries like a dream. I know my pack can effectively carry a heavy load and is adjusted properly to me when I feel the load in my legs only.

Another tip is use a training weight the spreads out in the pack top to bottom not all winds up in the bottom like a dumbbell

I have a Paradox Unaweep along with an X2. As mentioned, the X2 is now relegated to whitetail hunting. I have recently started putting a 75lb tubular sandbag in the Unaweep to train. I got it at home depot for 5 bucks. Cinched down , it carrys great. The load lifters on the Paradox are very effective. I am confident I could carry 100lbs without discomfort in the shoulders with this pack.

Anyone attempted to use the OV Innovation nice frame load lifter mod on the X2? I have never owned the x2 but if be down to check one out and seeing if could work. I have the OV Innovations load lifter mod coming in today for another project. if anyone has an X2 they want to take some photos of we can see if it's even possible to retrofit it. Love trying different things out this would just be another one to add to my list of " let's see if it would work ideas"

I got rid of my x2 and dropped the cash for a SG sky archer. Well worth the money. I put a 50lb sandbag in and walked/hiked for about 50 miles so far. No shoulder problems, it feels like the weight is distributed all over the torso and not only the shoulder. And the x2 was way short on me.
