Between western hunts and white tail hunts, i've found that when I take my pack off, it becomes frustrating trying to find stuff and keep the bag accessible.

My easy fix was to buy a spare 2" buckle set(amazon) and 5 ft of 2" tube webbing(tube type is not necessary, but readily available at a climbing store) . Some people might opt for a 1.5", I opted for the 2" because the waist strap on my pack is 2"

When the webbing and buckle are combined I can easily hang my bag from any tree. This keeps the bag off the ground which keeps everything cleaner and you're not dumping your water/food/gear every time you open the bag. I can also hang the bag upside down and connect the waist straps to strap so my lumbar pad could easily be used as a stable shooting platform.

I have my K4 set up with a "retractable" carabiner, on a section of shock cord, that stays clipped on the "handle". I also carry a 5' piece of amsteel/zing-it daisy chain (weighs nothing). I can hang my pack anywhere.

I use a length of #12 bank line. I keep it tied to the top of my pack so when I'm setting up camp I can just toss it around a trunk and tie it back to the pack on the other end. It's not nearly as elegant as your strap and buckle but it weighs like 0.1oz.

At one point I added a Dutchware titanium hook which only added 0.01oz. But every tree trunk is different, so usually I just pull a loop out at an appropriate spot to rig a quick trucker's hitch. If you pass the tag end through your loop twice it becomes self locking to get the tension you want, and a quick tug the other way releases it. Easy peasey.

I had to use the t post to show how I hang my bag on a tree when in tree stand or at my glassing spot. The sycamore in my backyard is like 80 years old but I think the idea of using your bag as a steady rest would translate

Thanks for sharing the pics and video. The video was really helpful to understand exactly how it works.

This is a great idea and I’m assuming can be done for just about every pack if needed. Thanks for the write up and additional visuals

vid helped a lot. I would hit the ground with the plane coming in that hot and fast

Hahaha. I live in a flight path for an international airport, which I think is cool. I don't even notice it anymore. I notice it more when the traffic slows down. I'll never see an antonov due to runway length

yeah could probably done for just about any pack. Just find buckles that are compatible with your pack OR replace your pack buckles YMMV

I think I saw some adds lately for a company that makes and ultralight little hook/tension lock deal that does something similar to this as well.

Here is the one I was thinking of. More than $6 but definitely not expensive if someone is looking for lighter smaller package.

On a note I have no experience with how well this thing works.
