Easton Axis 340 or 400 spine?

I'm helping someone who's looking to get some new Easton Axis 5mm arrows and curious for Rokslide community recommendations on spine, thinking 340 or 400.

Mathews V3 31"
28.5" draw
Cut shaft length 28"
Draw weight 55 lbs but could creep up to 60
Total arrow weight 480-500 gr (100 gr fixed blade heads with necessary insert to achieve the desired total arrow weight)

Thanks for any suggestions.

At 60# 340, 75 gr brass, 100 gr head at 28” should get you around 475-485 depending on vanes/wrap and the standard x nock.

You could get away with 125gr heads at 55 and be around 500.

Either way pretty clear cut 340.

340. You’ll have more issues with weak spine arrows than heavy spine arrows
I’m shooting 27 3/8” shafts with 100 heads at 70# and use 340 & 300 FMJs with standard inserts and VPA footers.

28" 340 spine 5mm Axis with 200 gr total on the front and 30 gr on the back comes out to 496 gr TAW. OT2Go says this arrow would be slightly (.004") stiff at 55# DW and slightly (.017") weak at 60#.

This year I picked up the new ventum pro 33. Will be shooting 70#, 27.5 DL, same arrow configuration. Wondering whether I should bump up to 300s myself with the slightly extra poundage.

I wouldn't switch just to switch, if you need new arrows you could go 300's but the 340's will be fine at 27". I shot 27.5" Easton Injexions out of a 65lb Carbon Spyder Turbo at 28" and they worked excellent, best-shooting arrows I've had at long distances with fixed broadheads. I was using a standard 20gr HIT in the injexions with 100gr heads.

Nice that's good to see. I have to shoot the bow when it's ready and see what the actual poundage is on it.
