Fellow Oregon spring bear hunter with a tag in NE Oregon. Hunting been somewhat slow thus far - with day hunts and no overnight trips. Have seen 3 so far……at last light. I’m planning a week long trip mid/late May - if anyone wants to share how their season is going feel free to post here or send me a PM!

Just got back from a week in NE OR. Didn’t see any bears and not much sign. Had a discussion with an OSP officer out of La Grande who said he hadn’t talked to anyone that had gotten into bears.

Heading east tomorrow morning through Sunday to poke around a bit. Then back over 5/21-5/31.
Will report back next week.
Good luck everyone!!

Great trip this weekend but no bears seen. Didn’t really see much sign of bears. Can’t wait to get back in a couple weeks.Definitely need some rain over there.

Good to hear. I live in the area and have hunted a handful of evenings the past week. I’ve seen everything but bears…..even walking through some really good areas/slopes midday looking for sign and not seeing too much.

Im in the NE corner. I've seen 5 bears this year. Two hunters in or group have filled there tags. In the last week things have really greened up a bunch between 3k-5k elevation. The yellow flowers (arrowleaf balsamroot) just really started to pop the last few days. Should be good from hunting from here on out. Good luck

I'm heading that way towards the end of next week, sounds like my timing might work out well.
