I'm a youth hunter and new to mule deer hunting. My dad and I are going on an archery mule deer hunt in late august/early september in the Idaho high country. Neither of us have hunted mule deer before or even hunted out west. What is their elevation that time of year? What areas do they hang out in? What is their daily routine? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Milan

It would probably help to let people know the state you are planning on hunting.

Glad to see a young hunter getting ambitious about learning. Unfortunately those are very broad questions. Folks have written entire books about those questions. Hope someone can help you out on here but it sounds like your DAD is going to have to do a lot of reading and research to get even a small percentage of the information you guys need. If you or your DAD do some searching on rokslide you guys will find lots of pieces of information. Time in the field is the best way to figure most of it out. Good luck buddy.

I’ll make sure to check rokslide for any info. We have already done lots of research and planning getting ready for our trip. I was just curious if anyone could give me any good info I couldn’t get online on those questions I had.
