I just received my zeiss sfl binos from B&H (listed as "used" but arrived looking new). In the past Ive heard you can take a look at the finishing and QC of the interior on the optic by shining a flashlight up through the occular lens and looking for dirt, dust, smudges on the interior lenses so I gave it a try. I was surprised. The interior lenses look quite dusty and some have some very small smudges on the edges. The attached photo shows it a bit. There is some dust on the outside lens that shows up as small specs, but the blurry spots are on an interior lens.
I checked my SLCs, they look pretty clean. A pair of nikon M7s, and they looked clearner.
I assume this is not normal?
