Has anybody ever used it, or have a recommendation for a non scented one? Every trip I've taken without a shower for a few days my head starts itching like crazy so wondering if this might help. Thanks for any ideas. Yes, I know, this may well put my man card in jeopardy.

Same thing happens to me. By the time the hunt was over it looked like I styled my hair with obenhaufs. Lately I have been buzzing my hair with like a #3 guard before the trip. Keeps scent down and hair stays clean with just hand wipes. By the time I get back after two weeks it just looks like I got a short haircut. Rei carries an all in one body wash in a small container but it's liquid not dry. I carry it along to wash up when needed.

X2 one this. I started buzzing for hunting 10 years ago and now do it year round.

I tried the waterless shampoo and didn't feel like it did much. I think you would be better off using a MSR Dromadary laid out on a rock to warm up.

I think dry shampoo makes things itchier than going without. Bring some soap sheets ( I buy them on the camping aisle at Walmart) and just wash your head in a creek every few days. I imagine your hair is shorter than mine, and I can make it work.

If the creek water is really cold, get your hands damp and then rub them together until the soap sheets lather...they don't foam very well in super cold water I have found.

We've used those ^^^ also. They make them in different kinds for body, laundry, ect. We dissolve them in a cup of water and them pour over.

It's kind of funny.......I keep my hair shorter now than when I was active duty military. And I always get the "hunting cut" come end of August.

I was hospitalized for a while where I couldn't shower, and they gave me something like this:

Amazon.com : No Rinse Shampoo Cap : Hair Shampoos : Beauty

It's not dry per se, but minimal wetness. It works, not as good as regular shampoo in a shower, but a lot better than nothing.

You can also cut down the frequency you wash your hair leading up to a hunt, and your scalp will naturally reduce the amount of oils it produces over time.

I guess being mostly bald does have it's perks....

Right? Tho I got burned on my head last week... guess its the dew rag/ hat phase of life

I tried the dry shampoo, and being mostly bald, I felt it worked pretty well. I felt like it did more for my actual hair then my scalp tho - I get heat rash when my scalp has dried sweat, and it didn't do much for that.

Ha! Somehow I managed to misplace my hat this weekend so I threw some of the kids SPF 50 on and figured I would be good for a morning hike. Boy was I wrong... And to add insult to injury my wife found it when we got back to camp - right were I left it even though I tried to blame the wife and kiddo.

Thanks everyone. Thought about just finding some water to do a quick wash in but wondered about a towel and putting soap out in the environment and all that jazz. I think the buzz cut is probably the best way to go buy I might have trouble convincing the girl that cuts my hair... who happens to be my wife.

My wife gave me the same remark last year. She doesn't like but she just doesn't understated low maintenance

I did a camp style 5 day Elk hunt several years ago in Colorado. I used a spray called "Psssssst" (that's really the name). I sprayed it in my hair, then combed it out. Worked really well. That was the only time I used it, but I would use it again if showers weren't available..

My wife loves the feel of a fresh buzz cut, but can't stand the 3-day shadow on my face. Make up your mind woman.

Looking back at some of my military pics, now I know why nobody ever believed I was military.

I have tried several dry shampoos, and found my hair feels dirtier after using them. They also all have a strong smell I'm sure attracts bugs. I have heard of a shower device you hook to a Nalgene bottle. I'm going to give that a try next time we go camping, because boiling water to fill the solar shower up takes a LONG TIME (but was SO worth it!)

I might be thinking WAY OUTTA THE BOX, but could you dehydrate something like Hunters Specialitie scent away soap? Then just add water when you need to wash up. Anyone know if this would work?

When in elk camp, i just have a colapseable 5 gal container that has a hose with a shower nossel on it. Cost like 20 bucks and weighs next to nothing. Fill it up with warm water from the stove, and it works great for a quick shower.
