How are the drought conditions where you are? Here in Northern California we have had next to no rainfall and snow things are not looking good! I finally have enough points to draw an archery tag I have been wanting for a while but I might have to hold out due to it being a rough year.

No kidding this is not good! No weather in sight either....

We got a little rain this weekend, but we need about 25 more of those storms back to back at this point! Hiked a little in X1 today and it's miserable dry..

Up here we got dusted with a little snow around 5000 ft. this weekend. Still nowhere near what it needs to be though.

got a quarter inch here the other day, cleaned up air a little, but ground is still dry.

Yep, I'm in D7 as well. I dont think Im going to waste my time hunting here though. I think the lakes will be dry by the end of summer if they even last that long!

It will definitely be a very interesting year for hunting with the drought conditions and also antler growth and don't forget about fawning season which the drought can also effect

this thread was like a rain dance!! thanks.

super wet now! i worry about my spring turkey hunt for sure..and last year there was barely enough water to camp at my D7 early archery hunt..we were pumping water from a seep.

crazy stuff. i have 6 deer points..is that a lot? i just keep happily get my AO tag and a point. i hunt fine with the AO

You are doing good with 6 most of the good archery tags take about 3-7 depending on the area. Might be time to start doing a little research. :D

I have noticed the only thing that has been keeping the animals going is the acorns never rotted. There was an ok crop this year in some areas. With this current storm hitting us hopefully it jumpstarts some feed.

I was talking to my brother in law who is a rancher and he said January feed usually doesn't have a lot of nutrition. Its mainly water. March and april is usually when thay feed has the most nutrition. If we get some good storms between now and then it should be enough to atleast keep this years fawn crop going. I hope........
