Get my haircut at this old-school place with some Bucks on the wall and a bobcat mount. I ask the guy cutting my hair who killed the bobcat and he says it was him. Shows me a picture of it from back in 1994, and says its the only bobcat hes ever seen, and most hunters never see one in the wild. I said "Funny you said that, but you're REALLY not going to believe me then. Ive killed two, on back to back days, this year." Preceded to show him some pics and he was like that's pretty wild.

Breeding pair possibly? I trapped a tom and a queen on successive days from the same area on the same farm. My first bobcats.

Maybe. I did notice one had a bigger mane than the other, and they were right beside a farm. (I hunt 20 yards from free range guineas and a chicken coop)

I trap them here in pa. , been saving the hides and having them garment tanned to make the granddaughter a spotted coat for high school graduation. My trapping partner gives me his since I decided to do this after her birth 10 years ago . I got almost enough to do a long coat if that is her choice.

Wow. That is a lot of Bobcats. We seem to either have them or dont have them in spots down here, but they're still more rare. How large of an area are you trapping them? Just curious if all thisbis off a 10 acre parcel or 1000 acre one.

Now ,I only trap on our farm a 500 acre piece of old strip mine country , Before that I ran a 60 mile long muti species line.

That’s awesome. Where do you send the hides to have them garment tanned?

Just before the covid madness the wife and I purchased 80 acres of land in the Ozarks. My neighbor and hunting buddy trapped our place that first year and got 9 bobcats in one season just off of our 80 acres. Along with a number of coyotes.
We have since shot another 6 or 8 since then just during chance encounters during deer or turkey seasons.
I've seen as many as 3 in one hunt (mom + 2 kittens I presume).
I've never set out to hunt predators but since seeing a melanistic bobcat on a neighboring property that I have permission to hunt I am gonna start this winter.

So guess what fellas? Killed ANOTHER bobcat. Lol. When I heard something and looked to my left my first thought was "you've got to be kidding me". Whats weird is I shot it (7 PRC) it flipped and flopped around for 2 seconds, absolutely hauled butt into a briar patch. I climbed down later and went down there thinking I must not have hit it well, and there was blood everywhere. The trail a 2 year old could have followed. I got maybe 30 yards into the briar patch and gave up. He's dead, but I was tearing myself to pieces with each step. Just crazy how a cat would be able to run that far with that much blood loss. I mean it was everywhere. 100% no question its dead. 3 in one year. Wild year hunting.
