Does Accepting Montana Alternate Tag use up Preference Points?

So after Montana has fixed the initial issue in the alternate tags I am now 35th for the big game combo. I believe it very likely I will be offered a tag, so my question is if I accept a tag from the Alternate list does it use the preference point I purchased this year? I was hoping to hunt Montana this year with my Dad but we did not draw, but with 2 points next year I feel we should draw (still waiting on this years draw results). So I don't want to accept this tag and hunt solo then not get drawn again with my Dad next year since it used my points up and decrease our chances from 2 points down to 1+ points.


Thanks for the help ahead of time, I did look in the forums and online before asking and was unable to find the answer and I know some of you are Montana gurus!

Getting a tag through the alternate list does not affect your preference points in any way.
