Read about someone modifying and making their own spotting scope cover. So I decided to see if I could shave a few ounces off of my cover.
One of my scopes is a compact Vortex Razor that I use occasionally on backpack hunts.
I had some spare neoprene from a seat cover and other items. Did some cutting and sewing and was able to shave over 3 ounces off the original cover. Plus I feel this one is more user friendly.
Sewing the neoprene wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I need to work on my sewing skills, but I’m not too concerned about looks.
The eyepiece and objective covers are connected with some elastic cord so I don’t lose them.

Not diy but a cheap light weight option is the gunslicker brand spotting scope cover. Easy to use but still keeps it protected from scratches and some cushion as well.
