New bow hunter here. I picked up this Bear Legit RTH from Cabela’s about a year ago as a way to get my feet wet in archery. 29 1/2” draw, 70lb draw weight. Killed a few grouse with it, didn’t end up getting out for Elk season. Plans changed when I was invited to spend a week on the Kenai Fly Fishing.I’ve been shooting it nearly every day and hand made a few changes. QAD rest, Stinger stabilizer.

Couple weeks ago I noticed the stabilizer getting loose, became obvious that the threads had stripped right on the outside of the mounting hole, on the top and bottom. Easiest fix would have been warranty, but I’m an idiot and didn’t register it when I bought it. Cabelas was helpful but We couldn’t find the receipt. So it was DIY or go without.

I applied a little gearhead fixit to this 2443FB17-3668-4BF9-985D-3E6B939A4806.jpegproblem, so we will see how it does. I picked up an EZ Coil steel insert kit on Amazon. The thread size seems to be the same for all stabilizer bars, 5/16-24. Followed the directions, used WD-40 as a cutting lubricant and Cleaned it out with brake clean before I inserted the steel threads. Pics attached for reference. So far so good! Stabilizer has seated true for a few sessions. Time will tell in the end.

Nice job on the repair. What do you think caused it to strip in the first place?

Not sure, but user error is my best guess. I would bet it got loose and I kept shooting, not having checked. The thread wear was right at the front, top and bottom threads. Almost like the recoil from the shot caused the stabilizer to vibrate up and down. The steel stabilizer just chewed away the aluminum riser.

I couldnt find very many threads about this issue, so I assume it doesnt happen very often.

If you're taking it off and on a lot and worried it'll happen again, you could get a quick disconnect that would stay attached. And it's nicer for taking it off and on
