This isn't my original idea, but I can't remember where I saw it first but thought you guys might like it.

I found a picture that i liked and used my projector to trace it onto a 4x8 sheet of 1/2 plywood.

Next I used my jigsaw to cut it out. Poor thing almost got too hot to hold!

Last step was to build a stand for it and cut out the vitals. I originally had it cut out in the shape of the heart and lungs, but decided arrows are too expensive so it's now just a square. There is a shelf on the backside that a 20x20 target will sit. I'm going to also staple some burlap on the backside of the hole.

Like I said, wish I could take credit, but thought I would share.

That looks really nice. Stupid question though. Why not of mad the whole think out of Styrofoam, that way if you missed the vitals it wouldn't bit a very big deal? Obviously it wouldn't be as durable but it was just a thought, regardless well done!

Because I had a spare sheet of plywood. I wouldn't even know where to source a sheet of foam that big.

Thats a cool way to make a target on the cheap! \

Ive looked into making targets like that out of those ethafoam sheets, bit it was WAY expensive to buy and get it shipped here. I might as well buy a 3d target. I have used the pink foam 3" insulation board too but it does not last that long.

Im gunna make some targets like the elk one above, use the green Foam block targets from cabelas are $39-69 and sheets of 3/8 cdx are about $16.
I also make large 3x4 or 4x4 bales with scrap wood and shrink wrap. Ive got one in my back yard thats been there for 6 yrs another one for 2.

Nice job MO Flatlander! I did the same exact thing several years ago. I have since upgraded when I started practicing from the 70-80 yard range & ended up hitting the the plywood a few times over the months and busted my arrows. I now have my full sized elk painted on burlap. I'd post am image, but can't figure out how to. I was able to post it on another elk website.
Thanks for sharing.
