To answer your question, yes, a skined bear does resemble a human.

I couldn't do it. It was something I didn't want to remember. It bothered me. Only have pics of the bear and the taxidermy.

Nope. I’ve seen a t least a dozen black bears skinned out when I was growing up, no big deal. I don’t shoot many brown bears but they are about the same.

I have eaten bear meat for years and have family who are hard core bear hunters. This was my first black bear and first one to process. Took a bit to convince me to eat the meat after skinning and processing it after seeing it hang like that. Here’s the finished product of the cape.

I guess I’ve never really seen the resemblance to the “muscular man” other guys see. Just another 4 legged animal. Though I’ve never hung one up to cut it up, only ever cut them up on the ground in the field.

I've had people tell me a skinned out bear looks like a man before, I helped a neighbor skin one last fall Just looked like meat to me.

Bear meat is some of the best I’ve ever had, would take a lot more than that to keep me from hunting them.

Same. I keep the shanks of whitetails for Osso Buco. When I skinned out my first bear, I couldn't believe the size of those front shanks.

The other thing I couldn't believe was the amount of grease on my hands and knives.

First bear I killed was my first solo kill, and one of the first big game animals I killed of any kind. By the time I got it skinned, it was pitch dark in a claustrophobic salmonberry thicket at the bottom of a steep ravine several miles from the truck—in other words, prime conditions for the heebie jeebies. I had heard the stories, but nevertheless seeing it all skinned out didn’t elicit any kind of emotional response, nor has it since with several other bears.

I will say that killing a bear does carry more emotional weight for me than other big game species (couldn’t really say why), but it’s not about what they look like skinned.

They don't look like as human to me, maybe Homer Simpson... what I think makes bears seem so human is their hindcannon in their rear legs is almost the same as humans (doesn't have a backwards bend look to it like deer). But the neck is just too long to resemble a human as is the spine.
