Just orders some ADI 55 Blitzkings for the 223.
Anyone ever use them on deer?

Maybe the case.
I’ve read of some people having success with the V Max and wondered if the Blitzking maybe the same.

It really is going to depend on impact velocity. They will definitely penetrate more than an inch or two, especially if you are down in the 1800-2000 fps impact velocity, but I believe there are better choices for the .223 than that bullet.

My success with the V-Max on deer was with the 6mm versions used in a 6X45 AR and a 6TCU handgun.

I’ll agree that the V Max success I’ve read about has been the ones in 6mm.
You think the Blitzkings at higher impact velocity won’t hold together well? Which does make sense.

Coyote probably the upper limit then?

I like something a bit heavier (longer) for the 223 as they seem to perform better.

I doubt you would have an issue killing deer with the blitzking as long as you keep impacts below 2500 fps. Above that you may not get the depth of the wound channel that is most effective.

I get reliable, violent exits on coyotes with them. Which puts them at 6-8" of penetration and still moving. I'd guess they have similar performance to other rapid expansion bullets. Small entrance, massive damage and no reliable exits at higher velocities. That doesn't make them a bad choice, just be aware of what you're buying.

As far as penetration of "an inch or two" and "splashy" results, I think this stuff belongs in the myth category unless you've actually proved it otherwise (Unless the deer is wearing level 4 ballistic plates).

6”-8” would kill a deer.
I’m debating with myself on whether or not to find out.

I chose the gameking for deer with 223 and 22-250, I highly recommend it. Never tried the blitzking on deer but I’m sure with correct shot placement it will do fine

Last year when I was shooting vmax in the 270 I was concerned with penetration so I measured the deer I shot in archery season. Behind the shoulder my biggest deer was 7 inches between the ribs. Add an inch of muscle and hide and that's 9 inches total, 5 inches to pop both lungs. You don't need a lot to kill a deer.

A local family uses 70gr blitzkings in a 243 as their preferred deer bullet, and when they hunt black bears they hop up to the mighty 85gr sierra hpbt. I think your 55s will be fine in the 223. I just would keep shots in the ribs or neck.

Dimensions match our whitetail.
Shots will definitely be in the crease behind the shoulder. In the head if close enough.
Thanks.
