I've got my whitetail hunting clothing dialed in for October until late november. I'm sick of freezing my ass off in the treestand in the late season and its time to get into better stuff. I will have on quality merino base layers and the plan is to put the warm stuff on when I get to the stand. Does anyone have a lot of experience with day one? I'm trying to decide on whether a set of fleece bibs and parka with the windblocker and insulation would do the trick for the 10 to -10 degree temps we face in Michigan during the late archery season. I've debated on buying a sanctuary system from First Lite but I'm kind of an ASAT fanboy.

I've tried almost every option out there.

For me the best bang for the buck is cabelas berber or wooltimate. Most of it is discontinued but can be found on ebay and in the archerytalk classifieds. I have the Berber extreme bibs and parka for the coldest of cold sits.

Being in Wisconsin and the same cold as you i feel your pain. I freeze my ass off late season too. i have tried so much stuff and the problem i deal with is i put on so much clothes that i cann't hardly move. and i still freeze. Sitting in a treestand in 20 -30 MPH wind for 12 hours and not hardly moving at all is tough. The only thing i have not tried yet is a Heater Body Suit, I may have to if i want to continue late season hunting from treestands.

I don'thave any day one fleece but i do have sanctuary bibs and jacket. They are really tough to beat for being stationary in the cold, they are very warm. You can still find the set in asat, I see them for sale pretty regularly.

taking some tips from what ive read on here i tried some layering setups this past year and was really amazed. i started out with cheap stuff and stuff i had just to see if it would work. i ran a pair of thin russel thermals over a pair of under armor 2.0 (id prefer the thinner stuff underneath but my under armours are skin tight) then a t shirt, hooded t shirt, a alverstone puffy jacket, and a thin cabelas jacket.
on bottoms i ran the same thermals with a pair of military down like pants and a pair of cabelas insulated bibs. i unzipped the bibs and carried the puffy walking in and zipped up as soon as i got on stand. with the wind chill it was -10f and warmed up to 20f. i sat on stand for 6 hours and was toasty and never felt restricted in movement.
it made me such a believer that this year im going all in on clothing from sitka and first lite

The biggest game-changer for me in late-season deer stand hunting was buying a Heater Body Suit (HBS) some twenty years ago (or longer!). Despite having a high tolerance for cold, I was always ending up getting chilled during entire days on stand. Like many, I dressed light going in and added layers once on stand. Timely food during the day along with cocoa also helped. Once I purchased a HBS (I now have two!), I was able to sit for extended periods in comfort since I love to be out the whole day on stand. The other benefits are that your scent is somewhat contained and I would always put my food and thermos inside one of my HBS legs to keep them from freezing. I have a number of nice bucks that I attribute to the HBS because it helped keep me on stand during cold and windy weather (the real heat killer). The only slight disadvantage is that I like to read while on stand (when conditions allow me to hunt with my ears) and I have to have the zipper part way open thus limiting the above mentioned advantages. Back to the OP's question, I do have a Day One anorak and warm insulated pants I got on clearance at the Minnesota Deer Classic many years ago but I rarely wear them now due to the HBS. Day One has excellent quality and the anorak is used during my western elk hunts - both archery and rifle. Note: I once asked an well-known outdoor writer from Northern Minnesota if the HBS really worked. His reply was simply, "YES...All you need is a warm hat!" Hope this helps...
