CWD in Vermont?

Western PA. I was not aware of that NY outbreak the map shows. In eastern PA I have started changing my butchering habits (boning neck, etc.) because it is only a matter of time IMO.

I’ve heard of it in New York. Vermont is making you butcher the deer out there and not bring any bones from the deer to Vermont. That means no heads from a buck either. Just the antlers. Isn’t CWD transmitted through the bone marrow?

It is not transmitted through bone marrow but through feces, urine and saliva. Deer couldn't transmit it to each other if bone marrow was the problem.

The prions accumulate in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) to do their damage but testing is done on specific lymph nodes on the animal (retropharyngeal).
