I dont own any cut rifled barrels and am thinking I want to try one on my next rifle build.
What are some of the best cut rifled barrel manufacturers and why are they the best?
Bartlien and Krieger are ofcourse some well known names in the shooting world but who else?

I don't know about who else but I've never heard of someone being disappointed with a Bartlein chambered by a good builder.

For single point cut rifled barrels Krieger, Bartlein, and Brux are my "go to" barrels of choice. My 6 Creedmoor has a CF wrapped Proof barrel and I don't know how it could shoot any better than it does but even with that I'd never take a Proof over any of the other three I mentioned.

Bartlein & Benchmark are my preference. Krieger, Brux, Hawk Hill won't disappoint you either.

I thought Benchmark barrels were button rifled, not single point cut rifled barrels, when did they switch?

At least for the past year. I've had the option of getting either buttoned or cut.

I asked a 9 time world champ 1000yd benchrest shooter about cut and button rifled bores. His reply was a button breaks in faster, and if a button barrel is properly heat treated they're golden. Apparently, there are many button rifled barrels that have won all kinds of competitions for their shooters. I've got both button & cut. I'd be hard pressed to say one is unequivocally better than the other.

I will put out an extra thumbs up for Brux they are easy to get ahold of and have great customer service if you have problem.

I believe Douglas, Proof (steel), International, and Lilja are all reputable in addition to the obvious characters.

My recommendation would be to call a title winning benchrest gunsmith like russ at BugHoles and pick his brain about what blank would best suit your needs.
