Does anyone have a rifle built with a Curtis action? There does not seem to be as much information on these as some of the other action companies. I’m considering a hybrid helix or helix for a new rifle. Seems like the Curtis actions are more common with prs rifles than hunting rifles.

Pretty sure Joel Russo designed the actions for Curtis Customs. He has since left and started his own company called Terminus Actions. He has the same actions as before but with improvements. Look at the Helios.

I have a Terminus helios in 338 rum. Love it, very short bolt lift, and arguably the smoothest cycling action I've run, and I've shot a lot of customs. Especially considering it is running a 4" magazine box, so a very long stroke. I have a 25sst being built on the Apollo lite action, that should be done very soon I hope.

+1 on the Joel Russo comment. He is the man who designed the Curtis actions and he is a top notch dude.

I have a 338 Lapua with a Helix action, and I'll tell you that its the smoothest action out of the box that I have ever fondled. 3 lug design with an easy-to-lift handle and short bolt throw. The fit and finish is phenomenal.

My next lightweight hunting rifle (another 300 rum) will be built on a Terminus.

Good actions, I had a vector.

I would go with Joel and go terminus at this point. My Curtis was totally DLC’d so I’m sure that helped but it was the hardest 700 footprint action to bind I’ve ever touched. In fact I never could bind it. As far as the “tactical” 700 actions go that’s the best IMO. It’s also timed correctly for a neutral trigger handoff with a triggertech.
