Just possibly looking into the future.
I know nothing about bear hunting but something I have always wanted to do.
Which would you do for North Idaho and why. Spring hunt for black bears or a Fall hunt

Don’t leave your Idaho bear (of a lifetime) in the woods overnight for a next day recovery. There might be a WKR nearby. 😀

To answer your question seriously instead of poking fun at BOAL hunters, I have hunted both and I prefer the spring. The fall bears I have shot were generally in berry patches pretty early in the season (late August/early September) and the hair was fairly thin. I think you would have a better chance at a well-furred hide in the spring.

Timing can be challenging in the spring. Too early and a lot of bears might not be out and access can be difficult. Too late, and everything is green and bears aren’t concentrated on the new green-up/in the open. Depending on the snowpack and spring weather the time between too early and too late is a moving target.
