Hey guys. How much cooler space is needed for a boned out elk? I've got two 75qt coolers. I'm just trying to make sure that's enough room. Thanks.

I roll with a 100qt and a 60qt. Two 75s should be about right if you bone out the meat.

our group tagged out with 4 elk. 3 cows and a small bull. Had 2 150 qt coolers, and elf in each and put the other 2 elk in 4 75 qt coolers. Had room to spare. Lots of ice with the meat

This year I had a 125 and 65 qt. No issues at all fitting boned out bull on ice.

I guess I'll be the voice of dissent. 150 will cover a big cow and maybe a bull. I take a pair of 120's. I'd opt for at least one larger cooler to be safe than 2, 75 qts. You will also get more meat if taking neck roasts, rib meat, shanks etc. Some leave this if back packing and only taking the legal mins.

Worst case, extra cooler space is good for dry storage or snacks and road drinks if you can swing a larger cooler or borrow one.
