I am Bowhunting Elk north of Durango above Purgatory last 2 weeks of September

Looking for where the cow herd is Right Now

2nd year to hunt this area just need meat

Cows are nice and tasty

Waterholes
Wallers
Bedding Areas

I have both sex tag but prefer a cow tbh

Not looking for your Honey Holes Just meat

Any guidance would be appreciated

Well, let me tell you, as a resident of unit 74, the best place to hunt elk up behind purgatory is to go up behind purgatory and elk hunt.

Mosquitoes are real bad up there this year because of the amount of rain. I drove up Bolam pass 2 weeks ago, got out of my truck to walk around for a bit and was back in truck within 5 minutes. It’s also real muddy up there this year.

Yep, 74 and 75 are different draw tags. Also, unless you have the private land only archery tag, your tag is specific to either a bull or a cow.

Also, I think bulls seem to like to be where the "cow herds" are during September because I heard from my grandpas neighbor that they mate that time of year? idk seems unlikely.
