Good lord...I am amazed that some guys can kill anything out there.
Granted, playing the wind right is smart hunting, but the wind changes....

So many items I buy here and elsewhere are laden with the queef of freaking cologne. Absolutely unbearable. Can anybody else relate to this?
I've had items I actually stored in our greenhouse for a YEAR to get out the overpowering reek of "axe" or "polo"....brutal. Endless washings of shirts, coats and vests.
The 'coup de grace' is picking up a nice used. quality pack anticipating the long, heavy, successful hikes out....Only to receive said equipment all but permanently ruined by that pungent game-spooking stink.

NOTE TO HUNTERS OUT THERE: Can that sh*t!....women think it sucks anyway!

I share your disdain for the perfume, but thankfully, not your experiences here. Nothing that I've bought off the classifieds has had any stink. Good luck with your deodorizing.

You may want to try a concentrated industrial grade oil and grease emulsifier like Challenger first. That'll help strip the oils out that carry the fragrance.

No. But I could probably send you some stuff that smells like "Cot du rutting bull", which as we all know smells 10 times better than any cologne on the market.

Orion, I'm indebted for the advice......I'll be ordering the product asap.

I bought a Glock recently that reeked of patchouli so bad I had to soak in a baggie of WD40 and Hoppe's for two weeks to get it out. That's not a joke. The gun smelled horribly.

Dilute that Challenger something like thirty to one for clothes. Maybe four ounces into a gallon of water. It's strong.

Run it through a wash cycle. When it finishes the spin cycle, hit it with baking soda, run it through a rinse cycle or two and a wash with some scent free, no uv brightner detergent. You should be able to start fresh adding your own natural stank.

The bigger picture that many here can relate to is about 'less is more'...a slight whiff of human scent might be tolerable by deer or elk.

Where we live the local game is used to farms, ranches and *some* allowable human scent. We have deer and elk in our yard that smell us and they allow it, feed on... Getting a pure downwind whiff of me in the 'back 40' from the treestand? Slim chance.
Colognes and the like thrown in the mix WITH human scent nix any realistic chance of getting away with a slight wind change. The hunt is over in my experience.
