Does anybody run a simple pair of quality non-insulated, waterproof, hiking boots? For late season deer hunting I typically were good hiking boots then swap out to some down booties and warmers when I get to the stand and this keeps me comfortable. I’m curious if this is a proven method out west in the mid to late seasons or if the need for insulated boots is an absolute requirement

I think it depends on the person. I do a late season archery hunt with temps usually from 0-30 and I had to go buy insulated boots. During this hunt I am mostly hiking and my feet still got cold when I tried it in uninsulated boots. I wore 400g boots last year with thick wool socks and they were great. Not sure what type of hunting you plan on doing out west but I usually am on the side of bring warmer gear
