Hi All, first time Elk hunting this fall (Archery). Very appreciative of all the tips/tricks on this site. I don't have the ability to do in person scouting (live in MN) prior to the season. I've spent a lot of time staring at Google Earth and Onyx Maps of the area. However, I'm having trouble determining what roads are passable with a truck vs ATV etc. There will be a two of us doing a week long back-country hunt. I don't want to plan around an area we can't access and or find ourselves in a area known not to hold elk. I'd like to talk to a local resource or two, and am not sure who you'd recommend? Conservation officer? National Forest Service workers etc? Is there a protocol or best approach to calling and asking these types of questions (again just looking for general info on area, not secret spots etc)? Thanks!
