So found this at Costco today... At $18 I couldn't help to grab one... Actually picked up two! I know it's not the best quality Down but I figured what the heck....

I got the same exact one and same color a few weeks ago. I figured it wouldn't be bad for just throwing in my bin of extra stuff I'll bring with me in a hunt and leave in the car.

Thanks for sharing as I've been looking for a cheap one to use for training hikes. I bought one of their Calvin Kline puffies two years ago and for $35 it's not that bad of a jacket.

I've had one for awhile now and it's pretty warm. For the price is tough to beat.

Great vest! I like mine better than the KUIU guide vest I gave away! Fits great and is warm for 8 oz (w/o stuff sack) in Large. Too warm to hike hard in though as I sweat wearing it.

Down garments are usually very expensive, but are an excellent insulator (probably among the best) as long as it stays dry. Make sure you have something to wear over it if rain is a possibility. That looks like an excellent deal. Cabelas would probably charge $200.00 for that ;)

Seen the same one at costco this past friday. Looked like a nice vest. They didn't have the grey/charcoal color I wanted in my size. Only had it in black. Might have to go check again to see if they have my size!

I have two of these and have used them all season probably 20+ days in the field. I really have no complaints with it and has done exactly what I have wanted and has allowed me to spend my money elsewhere.

Probably made by a name brand manufacturer. That's sort of Costco's MO. "We'll buy 100,000 units at 15% of retail if we can re-brand as Kirkland. If not we will buy zero units". Pretty effective business model. I'd think being a buyer at Costco would be a fun job. But most contracts are a one shot deal so once they are sold out probably not coming back. At least for another year.

Doesn't look like my Marmot though so probably another Mfg.

My bro manages a Costco. His sunglasses were the exact same as my Oakley's but his were Kirkland and cost about 30% of what I paid. And that's not the only example. His rubber boots look an awful lot like my muck boots and he paid like 30 bucks. I hate shopping at Costco but really should browse thru there once a month or so. If you see a deal like that at Costco don't hem and haw as there are professional Costco shoppers that buy that stuff out of stock quickly. And like I said most are on one time buy contracts.

Costco have an effective marketing strategy. There isn't a single day where the two stores here aren't packed to the gills.

On the subject of down vests, Eddie Bauer has got some good sales going on right now. I saw their stormdown water repellent down vests in the store here 40% off.

I don't have a membership to Costco but was still able to purchase mine through the Costco warehouse website. I think I paid and extra $0.50 or so as a penalty for not being a member, so no big deal and well worth the price for the vest. I'm on my phone right now so I can't check to see if that's still an option but it might be worth looking into for those who don't live by a Costco or have a membership.

That one looks like one I purchased at Wilson's leathers outlet a couple years ago. (CalvinKlien I think) The one I have wasn't that cheap and also didn't come in a stuff sack but a 'pocket' on the inside in which the vest stuffs itself into.

How does the sizing run? I normally wear a large but got a first Lite large puffy and it is way to big.

Sizing is a bit on the bigger side, i.e. larger than KUIU gear. My size large vest fits snuggly, similar to a XL in a KUIU down jacket or vest, which are pretty snug. I do have other L vests that are similar in fit in wool and polar fleece from other manufactures though.

For me I'd say that the sizes run true. I run between Xl & XXL depending on the situation. I went with the XXL because it fit me better when wearing it over a hoodie. I don't like snug/tight fitting gear. I tried the Xl and it was border line snug. Now if I were to wear the vest over a light long sleeve then the Xl would be fine.

i froze my butt at MT Fuji last year. i ran into a UNI-QLO store which can be best described as a japanese "Old Navy". i bought one of their lightweight down vest cheap. not $18 cheap, but dang close. same green..it is a great inner layer.

UNI QLO is here in the states and carries the same vest.

Went to costco the other day and they had my size in stock this time! I picked one up in the charcoal grey color. Wore it yesterday to head out and do some scouting. It was low 30s when we got out the truck. Did it's job and keeping me warm. Not bad at all for $18!
