Flying down to America's basement (FL) on Saturday for 2 days and got to wondering if I can carry on my Kifaru 24" frame, Apollo bag, and sherman pocket. Anyone have experience? I also am a flying newbie, would I have to put this in the overhead bin or can I ride with it by my feet underneath the seat in front of me? The GF says this i'm weird for wanting to fly with it but I'll take any excuse to use a pack I spent that much money on.

Technically, no, it's too big. If they notice/care they'll make you check it at your expense. Happens sometimes.

If you get it on the plane, it'll be in the overhead not at your feet.

I've flown a few times with my 24" frame and an AMR bag with no issues. It goes in the overhead bin.

I use a 24" frame with my woodsman on every flight, numerous times a year, as a carry on. I always have to fly one leg in the sub 50 seat puddle jumper planes and have never had an issue. It fits in every overhead with a little muscle and is normally packed for with kid Toys, books, snacks, meds and change of clothes. I have yet to have a airport person or plane person make me check it or even ask about it. I do keep all the straps managed and suck everything down as tight as I can.

I hope this doesn't jinx me for my flight in 3 weeks.
If so, davi dingle, you will get a kick in the dingle.

I use a 24" frame and have flown a ton with it. The only issues I have had were on puddle jumpers with very small overhead bins so had to gate check.

I have flown all over North America with a Kifaru 26” Frame as a carry on with several different bag combos. Cinch it down and you’ll be fine.

As long as its not overloaded I haven't heard of any problems. Might be worth it to have a contractor's bag and tape if they do make you check it at the gate to save your straps from conveyor belts.

Ended up not flying with it. Good thing because on one of the connecting flights a guy in front of me with a Osprey pack that was smaller than my kifaru had to check it.
