I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but I can't find it. Basically I'm looking for those with experience with carrying your pistol in the backcountry while hiking / hunting. I've done this before with just a chest rig and my backpack, but this fall I plan to have my AGC bino pack on my chest along with my backpack basically covering up anywhere I can think of. I've heard thigh rigs just plain suck, so the only thing I can think of would be a fanny pack or something? I just feel like I'm getting out of control on packs covering me up. I'm open to ideas, anything that hooks onto backpack straps? Stitching into AGC pack?

I've got a Kuiu Icon Pro 7200 and the AGC Bino pack reg size. The pistol is a Springfield XDS 45

No need to tell me I don't need to carry, I'm aware it's not necessary and extra weight, but it makes me feel safer far from home.

I had a Kuiu pack that I tried and used a Blackhawk Serpa holster with the paddle attachment and just slid it between the padded waist strap and that velcro strap that Kuiu uses. It worked really well for my G21. Didn't slide around or come off at anytime, but I never had to draw down on anything either...

Same as brightwhite. Blackhawk Serpa CQC with paddle or I think the belt attachment would work well too on the KUIU belt.

I used a serpa and g27 for carry. Worked well with my Eberlestock X2.

Thigh rigs while backpacking or hiking is a disaster. Watched plenty of guys try that with med kits, 40mm rounds and pistols on several trips to OEF. It all ended up in their pack or on their kit.
