Carbon fiber stock question

Looking at buying a carbon fiber stock from Stockys and making it look like one of the manners stocks. I’ve done a handful of sponge paint jobs on composite and fiberglass stocks and really liked the results. Looking for a lighter weight stock for a new gun and thinking about going this route.

Anyone know much about these stocky carbon fiber stocks? If I lightly sand it for prep, will it mess up the CF look or will it look normal again once I clear it. Any extra prep with the CF compared to the composite stocks?

Here is what the stock will look like when ordered and what I’m trying to achieve 18C033A5-F6EE-4874-8503-236E6C46BA6C.png7C721C8D-2F5A-403C-B7CC-153EBDA680DE.jpeg

Why do you need to sand? I would wipe it down with acetone or that type of a cleaning agent and then paint.

If I can wipe it with acetone and be good to go, it would take out the sanding. I’ve always used a very fine grit paper for scuffing the surface, then acetone afterwards.

I have only sanded to remove imperfections. Acetone or like cleaners seem to remove everything from the surface that would keep paint from sticking. Sanding with a fine grit paper won't change the carbon fiber look but it will leave it open that would make me want to seal with a polyurethane, which I do tend to do with most of the spiderweb paint jobs that I have been doing.

I just did a light sand and then acetone, the CF on them is fairly rough and unfinished looking in places anyways. They are a great stock and I have them on three guns now.
I did couple coats of alumahyde Black then regular spray paint for the rest, clear coat after, also added texture to grip and forend

Those look good. What did you use for the texture on the grips?
