California is the stupidest state

@bojangles808

So CA DOJ put out an "advisory" that until the court order has officially been issued it is not in effect.

Basically trying to bully retailers and buyers that they are subject to prosecution before judgement has been issued.

Kinda what I thought cause I was in sportsman the other day and asked about background checks and he said it’s still a must. I was like wtf

Pfa's seem to be a serious issue. Damn California for giving a damn 🤷‍♂️ and as already mentioned damn them for paying more in Federal taxes than they received funding as well 🤷‍♂️

I saw a paper plate at my children's birthday party that said "compostable except in California. " wtf

Yea the states a mess for sure, but the x-zones make up for it all. Big Muleys up there
I'm not sure how long you have been in CA, but to compare the herds of the early 90s to now is just depressing. Yes, there are good bucks and a lot of land to hunt up there, but the deer are way down on the list of species looking to be "saved" by the state. If it has anything to do with hunting and guns, CA finds a way to ignore making good policy.

hey quit crying you can order ammo to your door in California again
We almost can...i got an email from Midway yesterday saying it was still going through some court processes.

From Midway

Although the 9th circuit ruled the California ammunition background check law to be unconstitutional on 7/24/2025, the CA Dept. of Justice issued a clarification on 7/28/2025 that there were several procedural steps that needed to take place before the law was actually invalidated. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship ammunition direct to your residence at this time. We are actively monitoring the situation and will update you via email when we know more.

It started a hell of lot longer ago than when Newsom entered state gov't. I was born there (in Downey) in 1941. Once it got to the late 60's and early 70's and all the building of tract homes that you could buy for almost no down payment, it became solid houses from Ventura to San Diego, the exception being Camp Pendleton. I have a nice mule deer that I shot in 1955 (I was 14) with a bow in Malibu. It's all multi million dollar homes now.View attachment 913332
Man I’d love to hear that story!

I tried to order ammo online from an outfit that has sent it to me in the past but no dice yet.

Let us know if you were successful ordering ammo online and who.

BTW, Did you know that Newsom tagged CA tax returns with an additional tax for "Mental Health"...yeah, he snuck that one in. That guy is a not only a lying hypocrite...but a cancer.

Example;
He took the $100million raised for the people whose homes burned down and directed it to all of his pet NGO's...one of which was his wife's NGO [Newsom splashes millions to his wife for other stuff including Gender curriculum in schools] - no money went directly to the folks who lost their homes.

Remember this when they trot this clown out there to run for president

It sucks they take more then you make here. I’ve never heard anything good about newsome. He’s the absolute worst thing ever

Glad we don't have those issues here

I see 2 options
1) Abandon that state. Thinking if that was an option you would already be packed and gone
2) Send them to family/friend in another state and have them forward. Of course paying for shipping twice might kill that idea too

That is the best I can come up with, sorry

If you find a deal that’s worth it, you’ve always been able to ship it to an FFL, you’ll still have to pay $5 and do a background, but it is an option. I don’t think many people realize Sportsman’s warehouse price matches. I’ll often find better prices on Midway, brownells etc get the better price and not pay shipping.

Man I live in the stupidest state in the union. I tried to order my kids all a new pair of hiking boots, being that kids need new ones every year. I get all the sizes situated into my cart, input all my info, press place order…… cannot ship to California because of PFAS chemicals. What a bunch of BS. I swear California is such a joke. I’ve been dealing with this with rain gear already, but now I have to pay an obscene amount of money to get my kids a decent pair of hiking boots that won’t fit next season. I love our stupid liberal politicians in this state. Rant over
What are the PFAS regulations there?

It's got great weather, beautiful scenery (what little hasn't burned) and has potential to be one of the best big buck producing states in the west but it's severely mismanaged. I lived there most of my life and moved in 2021. Been back four times, to visit my grandma after I found out she had cancer twice, for a wedding, and then grandmas funeral. Still have a few older relatives out there and I'll probably go to those funerals but other than that I ain't got many reasons to go back.
