I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with one of these tents.
It is listed as an 8 man tent, but it looks like it would work well for about 2 people or maybe 3 max along with gear / food / clothes / etc and a wood burning stove. The internal dimensions are 10'X14'.
Any info is appreciated.

I used it for 5 days here while it was still a prototype last spring.

Overall I like it a lot for the weight. Sets up decently fast and has a robust pole design. The layout is great and the good sized vestibule in the back and the GIANT one in the front means you can store all your gear out of the weather and still setup a roll up table and 2 burner coleman stove to cook in out of the weather. If I didn't already own a Cableas XWT 12X12 this is the tent I would likely bring when weight isn't an issue and crappy windy weather is expected.

I was just going to ask about this tent. Been debating between this and the bighorn 3. I liked the duel wall's on this tent. Hopefully more people chime in. When it hits a sale I'll probably grab it if the positive reviews keep coming in.

Luke, how is the floor strength? Do you see the material holding up well? What are your thoughts on the stove jack? From what I can find, this is about it for a duel wall with a stove.

Luke, Thanks for the reply. Good info.

I had an 8 man Alaskan Guide tent for about 15-20 years until it finally died. I spent a lot of time in this tent in all kinds of weather from 100+ degrees down to near 0 degress and everything in between. It was a great tent, but the usable floor space was not great, given the dome shape. How is the usable floor space in this tent with the modified dome shape?

Also, how would you describe the tent and fly material as far as thickness / robust construction? At least in photos that I can find, the fly material looks very similar (maybe the same) to the material of my Ultimate Alaknak tent, which I think is very thick / robust.

Thanks

The useable floor space in the Instinct tent is much better than the Guide Models I have owned. Its essentially a rectangle inside making it much more user friendly and true useable floor space. The tent material is thicker and heavier than the Guide Models, but if taking this tent weight isn't really a consideration for the most part. ;) So long as it goes under 50 pounds for checked baggage is the main thing for me. Swap out some of the steel stakes for some of the yellow 10 or 12" plastic ones and you'll get there.

All in all I like that its a double wall for condensation issues unlike the Alaknak as well as the weight is better than the Alaknak. Also I feel it setups of faster than my buddy's Alaknak as well.

I'm really glad I found this thread as I nearly started a new one.

For those interested, this tent went on sale not too long ago from $1,000 to $800 and now you can get 10% off that if you order soon.

I'm looking to make the jump from canvas to something like this. Weight isn't a huge issue but it looks like I can gain floor space and cut extra bulk with this tent. I love the idea of storing firewood in the vestibule too. That should free up space and keep the inside much cleaner.
