I have a 12x20 Alaknak that I’d like to sell. I put caked it up used for $300 on a whim because I knew they list for $1200 at Cabela’s. I think the lady selling it lost her husband a few years ago and just wanted it gone. I bought it in the bag hoping everything was there.
It’s probably about 10-15 years old based its features. All the main stuff was there - the tent, the 10 sidewall poles, the two center poles, the vestibule poles. There was a mish-mash of guy lines out of different color paracord and a handful of stakes. There’s a bag for the tent and the poles.
I put it up by myself - no directions - in about 25 minutes. I immediately thought two things. First, it’s pretty nice, and second it’s WAY more tent than I’ll ever need. It was musty smelling from being in her garage so I had it up in my yard for about a week and it wasn’t smelling too bad. It could use a cleaning and some new stakes and guy lines, but you could use it tomorrow if you had to.
The major concern I saw was there seem to be several pinholes from embers I’d guess on the one end. Mostly they are across from the stove jack. There is no optional stove jack roof panel. I was thinking of patching all those little holes with Tenacious Tape but decided to just hold off for the next owner to decide.
At this point I’d like to sell it and just get my money back out of it. $300, located in Pittsburgh area. Because of the pole length shipping could get pricey fast with dimensional weight. I guessed at sizes and weights and for UPS ground it would approach $100. I’d be willing to meet up within a reasonable distance.
I do plan to be on a solo archery hunt on the Grand Mesa in CO the last 10 days of September and could meet up somewhere along the way on the I-70 or I-80 corridor.
